My name is Steve Kutzer and I have been in the IT field for 30 years. I have held most of the jobs available in an IT organization, moving from operator to applications programmer to systems programmer and then on into data and telecommunications management. I spent 15 years in Management Consulting serving a wide variety of industries and government agencies.
After my time as a management consultant and for a period of 10 years, I was an IT SVP and CIO at two commercial real estate companies. This afforded me the opportunity to create IT departments from scratch. I feel that a midsized public company is the best training ground for a CIO. Such a company has all of the same needs as a global company, but far fewer resources. The needs that all companies share are for safe, secure, reliable, productivity-enhancing systems and processes.
I run the CIO Advisory Practice for Luminosity, a consulting company I co-founded in 2006.
I moved to Atlanta in 2013. During my time here, I have worked at two iconic Atlanta institutions. I was the VP of IT for Zoo Atlanta for three years, and I am now the IT Director for Emory University's College of Arts & Sciences.
I love technology and being alive at this time and place in our history. For this reason, I created CIO Dojo to have a place to express myself and solicit the feedback of others. I would love to hear from you!
